Plateau United Arrives Gabon For Saturday’s Clash Against A.S Mandji

One of Nigeria’s two representatives in the 2022/2023 CAF Champions League, Plateau United Football Club of Jos has landed safely at the Liyomba International airport, Libraville, Gabon ahead of Saturday’s first leg, first round preliminary match against A.S Mandji.

The contingent led by the Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Victor Lapang, landed at exactly 6:20pm Nigerian time.

The team is expected to take another flight to Franceville venue of the match which is one hour from the Capital , Libraville Friday morning

After finishing runners-up in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL last season, Plateau United is going into Saturday’s match in bouyant mood after participating in the Value Jet Pre-season Tournament that also featured three other teams representing Nigeria in the continent.

Some of the players Plateau United is parading in the African premier club competition include former Al-Hilal of Sudan marksman, Ibrahim Mustapha, Mohamed Zulkifilu, Sunday Anthony, Daniel Itodo and experienced former Kano Pillars goalkeeper, Suraj Ayeleso.

The match which was intially slated for Libraville the Gabonese Capital, after CAF rejected their home ground was moved to Franceville , a neutral ground barely seventy-two hours to the kick off of the match.

The return leg of the competition is coming up Sunday next week at the MKO Abiola Stadium , Abuja.

The winner of the tie over two legs , will meet North African powerhouse, Esperence Sportive of Tunisia in the second round preliminary stage of the competition.
