It was a result that sees the title holders ending the Group ‘A’ standings with twelve points from four games and thus qualified for the knock out stage of the 2nd edition of Governor Abdullahi Sule Inter-Security Agencies Unity Cup Football Tournament with a one hundred percent record.

They are joined by the FRSC who have seven points from same number of games while the Nigerian Police Force who netted five times against Nigerian Correctional Service’s three are third on the log.

Umar Hamadu opened scoring for Police in the 6th minute before Silas Maneh drew level, seven minutes later.

Umbugadu Simon gave Police the lead again in the 15th minute as Umar Musa increased the goal tally to three in the 25th minute.

It was 4-1 in favour of the Police team when Umbugadu scored his second from the spot.

Correctional Service reduced the gap to 2-4 through familiar scorer, Silas Maneh, six minutes into the restart, but the Police Team further widened the gap from the spot through Emmanuel Antenyi in the 53rd minute.

Silas Maneh capped the day with a hat-trick as he scored Correctional Service’s final consolation goal in the 83rd minute, becoming the first hat-trick scorer in the history of the tournament.

Preliminary games will climax on Monday, 15th January, 2024, when the Nigerian Army take on the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps by 8.30am in Group ‘B’ before the Federal Fire Service will face already eliminated Department of State Service, DSS, later by 10.30am at the Lafia City Stadium.
