The Convener for Asiwaju Shettima Presidential Project, ASPP Hon. Ajayi Taiwo has described party men who stepped down and accepted defeat during the All Progressive Congress presidential primary election in June as “Heroes and Heroine of Democracy In Nigeria”.
Hon. Ajayi in statement made available to news men in Ado-Ekiti on Friday said the party men have shown they are great heroes and heroine of progressive and modern democracy.
Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, former speaker, Dimeji Bankole, former Gov. Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa, former Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, Sen. Ajayi Boroffice, Sen. Ken Nnamani and the only female in the contest, Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohunenye all stepped down for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He said a committee will be set up to visit the 21 All Progressive Congress, APC aspirants ahead of a special event to be put together by the organization to honour the party heroes and heroine of progressive democracy scheduled to hold in October later this year.
“The 8 All Progressive Congress presidential aspirants who stepped down and the 13 other aspirants who conceded defeat to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will be will be honoured with a special recognization award as great heroes and heroine of progressive democracy.
“You are our heroes and heroine, you deserved to be specially honoured because you have made sacrifices for democracy and our dear country by choosing a great leader with passion and vision in Tinubu.
“A leader who is capable of inspiring and motivating a new Nigeria without doubt, who cares about others and have a desire and responsibility to serve those they have been given privilege to lead.
“We commend your heroics and sacrifice for our great party (APC),” said Ajayi.
Recall that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu clinched the All Progressive Congress presidential ticket with a total of 1,271 votes beating close rivals Mr Rotimi Amaechi and Yemi Osinbajo who scored 316 and 235 votes respectively.
Tinubu, also the National leader of the party, defeated 13 other aspirants to emerge the flag bearer at the end of the National convention of the party on 8 of June, 2022 in Abuja.
