…Ball Boy Shot, Team Manager Others Seriously Injured
A group of suspected hoodlums have been reaprted to have attacked Sunshine Stars team bus along Ore-Benin Express way.
According to a release made available to the media by Michael Akintunde,
Media Officer, Sunshine Stars FC, the attack took place as the team was on its was to honour a league fixture against Bendel Insurance this weekend.
The statement reads: “It’s saddens our hearts to inform Nigerians, especially football lovers that out team was attacked few minutes ago along Ore-Benin Expressway to honor an Elite League tie, against Insurance of Benin, scheduled for this weekend.
Our ball boy was shot in the horrible attack, Our team manager and other club officials including players are seriously injured”.
Mr Akintunde reveales that it took the intervention of officers of the Federal Road Safety Corp, (FRSC) to help rescue the injured officials and the shot individual to a nearby hospital.
He on behalf of the club and management request fans and members of the public to shot ball boy and the injure officials and players in their prayers.
The sad event too place yesterday(Thursday) 7th December, 2023.
