The Main Organizing Committee (MOC) of the maiden edition of the Ultimate Scrabble Showdown (USS) have selected and secured Genesis Grid Homes luxury service apartment in Lekki, Lagos State, South West, Nigeria to host the first of its kind scrabble competition next month.
This information was made public on Wednesday by the brain behind the Ultimate Scrabble Showdown, Olatunde Oduwole in a WhatsApp message sent to FIRST ZEALMEDIACAST BLOG.
“The mandate given to the Main Organizing Committee (MOC), is to select the best of the very best of venue for the epoch making competition, that is what we have done with the selection of Genesis Grid Homes,” Oduwole the initiator of the project stated.
He stated further that, since the Ultimate Scrabble Showdown is aimed at encouraging and rewarding excellence, the Genesis Grid Homes luxury service apartment perfectly fits the objective.

DEFINE YOUR WORTH is the punchline of the Ultimate Scrabble Showdown while this maiden edition has as its theme ‘REWARDING EXCELLENCE’.
Ultimate Scrabble Showdown is a three-day event, two gladiators are expected to check in on Friday, the 19th of July and the competition will end on the 21st of July, with the closing games and presentation ceremony and it will be broadcast live.
The players selected for the maiden edition of The Ultimate Scrabble Showdown are the finest wordsmith on the continent.
Both players who are students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), in Nigeria, belong to the same scrabble clubs, UNILAG Scrabble Club in the NSF Inter Club Challenge and Hurricane SC in the MGI Premier League.
They are also the highest ranked Nigerians by the Pan African Scrabble Association (PANASA), ratings. Doko is rated 11th with 2030 points in the world while Nwali is occupying the 16th spot with 2012 points.
This first of its kind competition, THE ULTIMATE SCRABBLE SHOWDOWN is the brain child of Nigeria’s Champion of Champions, multiple National Sports Festival gold medalist and winner of the IGP opens, Olatunde Oduwole, and the competition has the approval of Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF).
Stakeholders in the sporting firmament have been heaping praises on the project.

★ Participants – Enoch Nwali and Oluwatimilehin Doko
★ Number of games – 21 rounds of games in two days
★ Total prize money – N500,000:00
★ Winner – N300,000:00 + Trophy, Wrist watch, Unique designer blazer, Designer shirt and other souvenirs and will also get full sponsorship to an NSF rated national championship
★ Loser – N200,000:00, Plaque, Designer wrist watch, Designer light wear, T-shirt and souvenirs and will get 50% sponsorship to an NSF rated national championship
★ Appearance fee for both players, N70,000:00 each
★ School upkeep for eight weeks, sixty thousand naira weekly for the winner and thirty thousand naira weekly for the loser as well as a pair of sneakers for each of the players
★ The school upkeep starts from the 28th of July, 2024 and will run for eight weeks
★ Accommodation and feeding in a service apartments for three days
★ Both players to be dressed by the organizers throughout the competition
★ Competition which has an annual July date is rated by NSF
