Oyo Athlete Mines Gold And Silver Medals In Accra

A visually impaired para-athlete from Oyo State, Oyindamola Tijani won gold and silver medals at the recently concluded CAC African Road and Paracycling Championship that took place in Accra Ghana.

In a press release made available to www.backpagenaija.com by Mr Tunde Ajibike, Director Media & Communication, Oyo State sports council; during the competition, Tijani Oyindamola and his pilot, won gold medal and recorded 17. 8 kilometre individual time trial, Class B, tendems within the time of 29 minutes and 18 seconds.

Similarly, he also achieved 36km. Men’s Road Race Class B, tendems which made him to clinch Silver Medal within the time of 1 hour 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
Earlier, three Nigerian athletes, Victoria Lawal, Peace Olawale and Eze Ukpeseraye won three gold medals in various categories.

The first edition of the tournament which started on February 8 ended on February 17, 2023. Nineteen countries of Africa participated actively in the competitions. It is an Olympic qualification championship, the press release concluded.
