The Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) U-19 Youth League made a thrilling start in Abuja as Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA) Board Member, Barrister Akintade Bocknor, performed the ceremonial kickoff at the Hovel Prime Stadium, Nyanya.
Representing NLO Chairman Silas Agara, who is also the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Barr. Bocknor highlighted the league’s visionary approach under Agara’s leadership.
The Ceremonial Kickoff was performed by Barr. Akintade Bocknor, with the
opening match between G-Medix FC and Olympic Hybrid FC ending in a commanding 5-0 win for G-Medix FC.
Notable football administrators and coaches were present, including FCT FA’s First Vice Chairman Alhaji Salihu Kolo, former national team coach Abimbola Samuel, and National U-15 coach Patrick Bassey.
Barr. Bocknor praised the NLO leadership for fostering grassroots football development and curbing age cheating in Nigerian football. The league aims to discover and groom young talents for professional ranks and national teams. With matches unfolding at 16 venues nationwide, stakeholders believe this edition could be highly competitive and impactful.
