It was a harvest of goals on Day Two of the ongoing second edition of the Nasarawa State U-13 Inter-Primary School Boys’ Football Tournament, 2024, holding at the Lafia City Stadium.
In the last game of Tuesday, Karu Local Government Area thrashed hapless Keana Local Government Area by 6-1 in both teams’ first Group D game.
Armstrong Elisha opened scoring one minute into the game before Emmanuel Inediegwu’s brace, Oche Edwin’s solo, Ikenna Daniel’s strike and Favour Linus’ frenzy condemned the Southern Nasarawa-based side to their worst defeat in the history of the competition, as Karu go top of their Group.
In earlier games, Lafia Local Government Area held on to their 4th minute lone goal to offset Akwanga Local Government Area in Group C while last year’s runners-up, Kokona Local Government Area needed a 39th minute penalty conversion by Shem Sunday to scoop all three points in Group B.
Action resumes on Wednesday, 22nd May, with four matches in the line-up.
In Group A, Nasarawa Local Government Area will test table-topping Doma Local Government Area for size by 8 o’clock in the morning. Shortly after, Awe will tackle Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area in their first Group B match and last for Nasarawa Eggon who lost their first game.
Keffi Local Government Area will square up against Akwanga Local Government Area in Group C by 3pm while Obi will engage Karu for might later by 4pm.
Each team will play two games in their groups to determine qualification to the next round of the competition.
Only two teams with points advantage will advance to the Quarter-finals stage of the twelve-team Tournament.
