The Solid Miners continued with their quest for a top ten finish in the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League Season as they put up a spirited performance to beat latest champions, Rivers United, on matchday 35 clash held at their temporary home ground, Jos International Stadium, on Sunday evening.

A 5th minute goal by Sunday Okereke after being found through by Chinedu Ohanachom saw Nasarawa United taking an early lead.

The home side held on to that scoreline going into the interval.

However, it was game on in the 80th minute after Sikiru Olatunbosun drew the visitors level.

POST-MATCH REACTIONS

Coach Bala Nikyu(NAS): “It’s a great result for us today. At this point of the league, every team gives all it has to win because if you lose, the impact will be huge!

“So, we appreciate God for the outcome today.

“Rivers United deserved to win the league because they have been great this season.”

Coach Stanley Eguma(RIV): “It’s a good game, but it’s unfortunate that we conceded an early goal and the hosts went on to dominate the first-half.

“Though we rallied back to pull a leveller, that last minute penalty to the home side spoilt our day.

“Generally, it was a good game, but we will do better in our next game.”
