In what could be described as a clash between parents and their children, a novelty football match between Staff of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development versus National Youth Service Corps’ Members serving at the Ministry had ended in a goalless stalemate.
The titanic encounter was played at the Lafia City Stadium on Thursday in the presence of both sides’ reservists.
It was a farewell game for the recently passed out Batch C, Stream 11 NYSC Members whose Place of Primary Assignment was at the Ministry.

In his remarks after the game, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango, who featured in the match, praised both sides for putting up superb performance.
He congratulated the Corps Members on the successful completion of their mandatory one year service to Nigeria, and for their commitment, dedication and support to the Ministry throughout their service year.
Jafaru urged them to be worthy ambassadors of their families and institutions in their quest for jobs in the labour market.
Also adding his voice, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, described the initiative to engage in the novelty football match as commendable, stressing that physical exercises help to improve the mental, psychological and physical output of an individual, especially at their work place.
He opined that the outgone Corps Members served the Country meritoriously at their PPA, disclosing that the Ministry would sustain the relationship thus established with them, going forward.

Immediate past Corpers’ Liaison Officer, CLO, Sunday Danjuma, who spoke on behalf of the outgone Corps Members, thanked the Ministry and her Management and Staff for making their service year eventful.
He said the lessons and skills learnt during their service year would go a long way in making them to become better people in the society.
It was the second match in the span of one year that both teams would share the spoils, with the first game ending 1-1 apiece in 2022, at the Science School Football Field, Lafia.
