Meet Azeez Audu Mohammed, Modern Day Football Tactician

For there to be a successful team, there has to be an excellent-working coaching staff.

A good coach is positive, enthusiastic, supportive, trusting, focused, goal-oriented, knowledgeable, observant, respectful, patient, and a clear communicator.

Kaduna State-born Azeez Audu Mohammed possesses succinctly the above qualities.

The 45-year-old tactician last coached Katsina United FC, a top-flight side in the Nigeria Professional Football League, taking them out of the drop zone during the 2020/21 NPFL Season while ensuring the Club’s stability in the ongoing 2021/22 league Season before parting ways with them shortly after the mid-season break.

Coach Azeez communicates well and exudes credibility, competence, respect and authority. He is able to explain ideas clearly, setting defined goals, giving direct feedback and reinforcing the key messages.

A holder of CAF ‘C’, ‘B’ and ‘A’ Licences, the middle-aged Coach boasts of an excellent coaching career, including leading some great Sudanese Clubs to successes. Among those Club are Shabab FC in 2012; Al Maurada FC in 2014; Alamir FC between 2014/15; Wadil Nyala FC in 2015; Alamal Athbara FC between 2015/16 Season; Wad Hashim Sinnar SC between 2016/17 and Al Hilal Alfashir between 2018/21 before returning to Nigeria to take up job with Katsina United, beginning from the second phase of the 2020/21 NPFL Season.

During his coaching sojourn in Sudan, Azeez guided Almaurada FC into the elite Sudanese League play-offs. He also promoted Hayyal Wadil Nyala into the elite league.

He also ensured Wad Hashim Sinnar SC came 2nd in the Sudanese Premier League ‘B’.

Azeez was equally instrumental to the promotion of Al Hilal Alfashir FC to the Sudanese top-flight League.

During his first spell at Katsina United, Coach Azeez, aside guiding the team out of the relegation zone, also propelled them into seven straight unbeaten run, with three of his best home records being a 5-1 demolition of Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi and a 3-1 thrashing of eight time league winners, Enyimba FC during the 2020/21 NPFL Season while recording a 4-1 bashing of Dakkada FC in the ongoing league campaign.

The attack-minded Coach is fluent in four indigenous languages which include Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and Igala, and can also speak two international languages of English and Arabic.
