The Abuja National Stadium and the accompanying 240-room hotel built at the cost of $300million  have been overtaken by herdsmen.

The over 60,000 capacity ultra-modern multipurpose sports complex launched in 2003 has not been in use for a long time now.

According to a report by the New Telegraph, Fulani herdsmen have been using the complex as a big grazing reserve for their cows.

A security official attached to the stadium confirmed in the report that the herdsmen have been grazing in the complex for a year.

The reports have it that the herdsmen armed with dangerous weapons have overwhelmed security men attached to the stadium.

Over the months, the main bowl of the stadium has been used for religious and cultural activities while some parts have been occupied by beggars.

The report informs that key facilities at the stadium is in a deplorable state of disrepair with a huge part of the large sports complex dense with weeds.
