Fans violence stalemated the all important NPFL MatchDay 30 fixture between strugglers Niger Tornadoes and Lobi Stars on Saturday May 28, 2022 at Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.
The first half of the game ended 0-0, in the process of match officials and teams filing in to the dressing room, fans attacked the Match officials and assaulted them, inflicting bodily harm.
Five of the players and two coaches of Lobi Stars were also seriously assaulted with various degrees of injuries on their way to the dressing room with valuables that can not be ascertained at the time of this report missing.
The assaulted match officials remained in the dressing room for about 35 minutes before coming out, but refused or were unable to continue with the game as a result of the bodily harm.
It will be recalled that, Niger Tornadoes started 2021/2022 NPFL season in Ilorin but were later banished to Abuja for similar offence, before adopting Kaduna as new home after the punishment was lifted.
Fans violence is an offence charged against the home team for inadequate provision of security for a league match, Lobi Stars awaits the decision of the LMC over the gory incident that disrupted the match.
