The Arewa Sports Journalists wish to join the growing number of well-wishers to congratulate the recent appointments of Coaches of Northern extraction into the various cadres of the Country’s National Football Teams by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, under the leadership of Mr. Melvin Amaju Pinnick.
Among the Coaches from the region are Salisu Yusuf (1st Assistant Coach, Super Eagles; Head Coach Home-based Eagles/CHAN); Usman Abdallah(3rd Assistant Coach, Super Eagles); Abubakar Bala Mohammed (Assistant Coach, Home-based Eagles); Suleiman Shuaibu(Goalkeeper Trainer, Home-based Eagles); Ladan Bosso(Head Coach, U-20/Flying Eagles); Samson Marwa Keshi (Assistant Coach/Scout U-20/Flying Eagles); Ahmad Lawal Dankoli(Assistant Coach, U-17/Golden Eaglets); and Mohammed Nasiru Isah(Goalkeeper Trainer, U-17/Golden Eaglets).
Others are Abdullahi Tyabo Umar(Assistance Coach, U-13/15); Mohammed Kalli Kachalla(Assistant Coach, U-13/15), Alh. Mohammed Kwairanga(Assistant Coach, U-13/15) and Abubakar Abdullahi(Goalkeeper’s Trainer, U-13/15).
We equally congratulate players from the region who got invitations into the National U-20 team, The Flying Eagles, as they prepare for the WAFU “B” Qualifiers in Niger Republic and AFCON U-20 Championship in Egypt.
While we see their appointments and invitations as timely and veritable, especially when so much is being expected of the Country’s National Football Teams by the citizens, we wish, to most succinctly, urge our great ambassadors to represent well by giving their utmost patriotism to the Nation in the tasks before them.
We believe the current set-ups will qualify Nigeria for all important international competitions and subsequently return with laurels.
Our special appreciation goes to the leadership of the NFF and critical Northern Football Stakeholders for believing in the acumen of the coaches and talents of the invited players.
AREWA SPORTS JOURNALISTS HANGOUT which is an umbrella body for practising sports journalists with Northern roots will continue to lend our support and solidarity, in whatever avenue, to the success of those coaches and players as well as the Nation’s Sports, including Football.
