Annual All Stars Veterans Football Tournament Begins In Lagos

The 2023 edition of the All Stars Football Veterans Tournament will flag off in Lagos Thursday morning, following the events’ draw ceremony done Wednesday evening at the Eagle’s Club, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere, Lagos.

The draw event which was coordinated by the president of the Lagos All Stars Association, Mojeed Adegbindin, saw All Stars veterans from Oyo, Lagos, Anambra, Abia, Bauchi and Oyo converged at the Eagle’s Club to get to know themselves and also play some catch up with old colleagues.

One of the top All Stars players sighted yesterday at the venue of the tournament was ex- Super Eagles and Shooting Stars hero, Duke Udi, who came with the Oyo state team.

Other top Stars who will feature in the three day event include: ex- international star Victor Agali, Friday Ekpo, Wasiu Ipaye, Festus Odini and Taiwo Oloyede among others.

The president of the host All Stars Association, Lagos All Stars, Mojeed Adegbindin, expressed happiness at seeing the number of All Stars teams from across Nigeria at the venue yesterday.

He stressed that, the teams are in for a great tournament and he will ensure all the veterans star players have great moments in Lagos during their stay.

The first game of the tournament will be played Thursday morning at the beautiful Eagle’s Club football pitch, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere, Lagos and this would see the Anambra All Stars team take on the Oyo state team led by Duke Idi at 8am.

The second match of the day will see, Abia State All Stars tackle Bauchi All Stars at 9am.

According to the Chairman, Main Organising Committee of the tournament, Mr. Godson Uti, each of the matches will be played 25 minutes each halves in a 50 minutes regulated times.

Other matches of the opening day will see host Lagos play against Anambra at 1pm and Bauchi at 5pm.

The grand finale of the Annual All Stars tournament comes up on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the events venue, Eagle’s Club, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos.

Matches at the All Stars tournament continue tomorrow, Friday, September 7 as Lagos battle Abia in the first game of the day at 8am, while Ibadan take on Lagos at 5pm.
