The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, Chikelue Iloenyosi, has demonstrated his commitment to nurturing talent in Nigerian women’s football by presenting 25 soccer balls to Nasarawa Amazons FC.
This gesture follows the team’s impressive 2-1 win over Bayelsa Queens in the 2025 President Federation Cup at the Awka Township Stadium.
Iloenyosi, popularly known as “The General,” expressed his admiration for the team’s performance, saying, “This is a token of encouragement for a team that showed real character and unity on the pitch.” The donation aims to motivate the team to continue delivering outstanding results.
Nasarawa Amazons’ Chairperson, Hajiya Hussaina Nagogo, thanked Iloenyosi for the gesture, stating that it would inspire the team to perform even better. “We truly felt at home here in Awka, and this gift from Chairman Iloenyosi means a great deal to the entire team,” Nagogo said.
The team is set to participate in the Super Six tournament in Ikenne, buoyed by the support from the Anambra FA. With their discipline, cohesion, and fighting spirit on the pitch, Nasarawa Amazons FC is poised to make a deeper run in the competition.
Nasarawa Amazons FC is a professional women’s football club based in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The team has won the Nigeria Women Premier League twice, in 2013 and 2017, and the Nigerian Women’s Cup twice, including a recent win in 2019.
