2023 Elections: SWAGA Women Wings Empower, Trains 500 Women’s On Electronic Voting In Lagos

Southwest Agenda(SWAGA) women wings, has empowered and trained no fewer than 500 women on electronic voting techniques.

The empowerment and training exercise was conducted in the Surulere local government secretariat, on Monday, in Lagos.

Mrs Ayo Omidiran, national president, women for swaga, said that swag has a support group would ensure that All Progressive Congress(APC) candidates emerges in the forthcoming general elections.

She said that now fewer than 500 women were empowered and trained on electronic voting exercises/techniques and they were also given some food items.

She added that the beneficiaries were given rice, beans, and other food items to cushion their hardship and also trained them verbally on how to vote electronically, secure their votes and ensure it’s counted.

Omidiran added that the victory of all APC party candidates was the group priority most especially Sen. Bola Tinubu’s success as the president of Nigeria and Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s re-elect as Lagos state governor.

“Women for swaga are working in teams in all the 36 States of the federation including FCT to ensure the victory of Sen. Bola Tinubu as president, ” she said.

According to her, the purpose of the training was to educate, enlighten and inform women on how to vote and secure their votes for their rightful candidates.

“No matter the challenges of the electronic voting exercises, ensure that your vote counts,” she said.

Also, Mr Bamidele Yusuf, Chairman, Surulere local government urged the women to come out en mass to vote for Sen. Bola Tinubu, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other APC candidates during the forthcoming general elections.

Yusuf appealed to the women to sensitize their children above 18 years to come out en mass and exercise their franchise/voting rights.

He commended the swag women’s wings on their unflinching support across the country to ensuring APC presidential candidate’s emerges victorious.

“Swaga women wings efforts and struggles will not go unnoticed, they have proven themselves as a responsible and reliable mobilizer,” he said.

Mrs Folashade Olabanji-Oba, National Deputy Chairman of Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria, said that Southwest women for swaga would mobilise over 5 million votes for all APC candidates in the region.

Olabanji-Oba also the Vice Chairman, Ikorodu local government, said that as women, the victory of all APC candidates across board was their priority.

She said that the basis of today’s gathering was to reignite the passion in the women and encourage them to still stand firm and tall to vote for all APC candidates and also to defend their votes on the day of election.

“Sen. Bola Tinubu will emerge as president come 25th of February because the women are ready to mobilize en mass to show their solidarity support for all our APC candidates.

“Tinubu has proved himself while he was the Governor of Lagos state and has affected so many lives positively, this is payback time and we will surely stand by him,” he said.

Earlier, Mrs Nurat Yusuf, Chairperson to Surulere local government chairman, said that today’s empowerment and training would go a long way to secure women’s votes and ensure their votes counts.

“We women are more than ready in Lagos state and in Nigeria at large to exercise our voting franchise to the people’s choice, Sen. Bola Tinubu for president.

“APC candidates shall be victorious at the end of the general elections,” she said.
