Barr Danladi Assures SSANU Women’s Wing Of Support

Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, has assured the leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, Women’s Wing, Federal University of Lafia Chapter, of his support to the activities of the Association.

Danladi gave the assurance in his office on Tuesday when he received the leadership of the Wing who were on a courtesy visit.

“One of the core mandates of this Ministry is to cater for the activities of the youth and women. Your coming here today speaks volume, probably because I am the custodian of the Ministry and someone who is gender-friendly.

“I am overwhelmed by this visit. Kindly be assured that as a person, I will contribute my bit, both with my physical presence and otherwise to make your event memorable.

“I am also aware that you have invited the Honourable Commissioner to your forthcoming event, and together, we will ensure we support you to have a successful programme.”

He said he had been following the activities of the Association secretly and commended the leadership for doing a great job in moving the wing and its members forward.

The Permanent Secretary, however, admonished the leadership of the SSA NU Women’s Wing to remain focused in order to deliver on the mandate of their election, stating that women are valuable and unique creatures who always deliver on any task given to them.

Earlier, the Women leader of the Association, Comrade Becky Kajo, disclosed that the purpose of their visit was to carry out a follow up on the letters of invitation they had submitted previously ahead of the fast-approaching annual International Women’s Day which the Association had adopted to celebrate.

“We are here to remind you of our forthcoming event which is the International Women’s Day Celebration slated for the 8th of March, 2024.

“As an Association, we have adopted this Day and will be celebrating it at the University.

“So far, we have a line up of activities to mark the day. On the First Day, we will kick-start with a novelty football match at the Sports Complex of the University, followed by a Street Campus Walk within the University premises to create awareness about the things that affect and impact women.

“Day Two will focus on a seminar with a theme: “Inspire Inclusion”.

“We have already extended our invitation to all spirited public office holders in the State which you are among. We have heard about your gender-friendliness, which is why we decided to invite you to the programme as a Special Guest.

“Finally, we are here to solicit your financial support and that of the Ministry to enable us have a hitch-free event.”

Director of Administration and Supplies Ms Helen Madaki, offered the vote-of-thanks on behalf of the Ministry.

Head of the Ministry’s Internal Audit, Hajiya Fatima Yamusa, also joined the Permanent Secretary in receiving the visitors among whom were Comrade Aisha Lawal, Comrade Delmwa Gokop and Comrade El Freda Bamsan Tupkop.
