The maiden edition of the South-South Senior Badminton Tournament, that started on Thursday, July 31st to Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, in Asaba, exceeded expectations, according to Felix Tangbe, Delta state Chairman who doubles as the South South zonal chairman.
The thrilling three-day event was held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium’s Indoor Sports Hall, bringing together top-notch badminton players from the six south south states which are: Team Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and NNPC Complex Badminton Club Warri.
Tangbe who is also a board member of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria highlighted that the tournament has been instrumental in uncovering fresh talents that can potentially represent the national badminton team.
The competition was fierce, with players showcasing their skills, strategy, and determination to emerge victorious.
The tournament’s success is a testament to the growing popularity of badminton in the South-South region and the efforts of local organizers to promote the sport.
The event conclude with exciting finals on August 2nd, 2025, where the best team crowned champion.
