The annual EYP Community Games is set to go commence tomorrow 3rd December, 2022 at inside the Low Cost Housing Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos State.
The organisers of the games disclosed that the 2-Day sporting event in its 4th edition, this year would include; Football, Table Tennis, Draught and Ludo as main events.
According to Adeyemi Yusuff, Chairman of Estate Youth Parliament, “the idea of the community games is to foster unity and togetherness amongst residents of the estate in the spirit of the festive season, regardless if you are young or old, male or female”.
He opined that EYP as a community based organisation, the games is the group’s way of contributing to social and youthdevelopment in Ejigbo and Lagos State at large.
“The games affords us the opportunity to identify talents in the sports we engage in and do the best we can to encourage them to greater heights. Given the fact of our limited resources we are making the little impact we can.
Yusuff says plans are underway to expand participation at the games, if the organisation find the support of well meaning individuals and corporate entities via sponsorship. Adding that such would help to improve prize monies for participants and winners during the games.
The organisers stressed that prize monies for the 4th edition would see first place winner in the football event, would be going home with N10, 000 while the runners-up receives N5, 000.
Winners of the TableTennis, Draught and Ludo events would receive N3, 000 in cash prize respectively, which is an improvement from the last edition.
The EYP Community Games would come to a climax on the 4th December when the finals of all the events would be held.
The games commences at 4pm each day.
