SW Team Secured Third Position At Cricket Championship

The South West team defeated North Central team which qualified her for the third position in the recently concluded, National Under-17 Cricket Championship Finals held in Abuja from 12th to 18th April, 2023.

The third place match between the South East and South West, the South West emerged Winner which fetched her the third position in the championship.

At the end of the seven days tournament, awards were given for excellent and outstanding performances amongst the players.

Three of the Oyo State players who featured in the South West team emerged as Winners in bar categories with Amusa Muheebat clinching the best bowler award.

While Odukoya Olawale was offered best batter and Joseph Daniel clinched the best fielder.

The most valuable player(MVP) went to Kareem Gaar of Lagos State.

According to a statement e-signed by Tunde Ajibike, Media/Communication Director, Oyo State Sports Council, the South West Zonal Representative, Mr Atoloye Tayo, had before the championship organized a three days camping program in preparation for the Final competition. The camping exercise was held at Obafemi Awolowo Liberty Stadium from 8th-11th April, 2023.

A total number of 30 cricket players participated at the camp from five states which included, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Lagos and Osun States.

The national under 17 Men and Women is an annual tournament sponsored by PWD Company Abuja in conjunction with National Cricket Federation.
