The Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development’s team emerged victorious in a novelty football match against Akwanga All Stars, winning 3-0 at the Lafia City Stadium.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, showcased exceptional goalkeeping skills, while Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan scored a brace.
TY Doma, a former Nasarawa United hitman and current Board Member, sealed the win with a sublime finish from close range. The match was attended by esteemed dignitaries, sports stakeholders, and enthusiastic spectators.
According to the press release e-signed by Eche Amos, Head of Public Relations, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, after the match, Commissioner Kwanta appreciated the Akwanga All Stars team for the honor done to him and the State.
“This is a very memorable event, and we will ensure we support the Akwanga All Stars maximally in all your activities,” he said. Kwanta also thanked the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, for his solidarity.
The Attorney General praised the Commissioner’s dedication to sports development, saying, “You have made us all proud in all facets of your life. Your coming to the Ministry has greatly transformed our youth and sports sector.”
The Attorney General supported participants with N200,000, while appreciating the Akwanga All Stars for honoring Commissioner Kwanta. The novelty match was held to honor the Commissioner on his reappointment and posting to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
Eche Amos, revealed that the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary were inducted into the Akwanga All Stars with customised replica jerseys.
