The Nigeria Shooting Sport Federation (NSSF) is set to host the maiden National Shooting Sport Tournament for Veterans and Wounded Soldiers, in honour of Defence Minister General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Retired).

President of the NSSF, Commodore Mohammed Sagir Shettima, made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Defence Minister at his office in Abuja.

The tournament, tagged “GENERAL C.G. MUSA NATIONAL PARA-SHOOTING TROPHY CHAMPIONSHIP”, aims to promote shooting sport among veterans and wounded soldiers, foster camaraderie among military personnel, and raise awareness about the welfare of wounded and injured soldiers.

Shettima sought the Minister’s support in accessing a $20,000 equipment grant, procuring modern shooting equipment, renovating shooting ranges, and including wounded soldiers in the Invictus Games and the 3rd National Para Games.

Defence Minister Musa lauded the initiative, describing it as a fitting tribute to servicemen and women, and assured the NSSF of his support, promising to facilitate necessary approvals and resources for the tournament’s success.
