St George Illawarra Dragons have scotched rumours of Kieran Foran joining the club.
Half-back Foran is out of contract following a 2016 season with the Parramatta Eels that was hampered by off-the-field issues and ended by a shoulder injury.
The New Zealand half-back’s contract with the Eels was terminated back in July.
New Zealand Warriors are reported to be the favourites for his signature but the Dragons have been linked with an approach for his services as have South Sydney Rabbitohs.
But, asked about the speculation by Dragons TV, the club’s director of Rugby League pathways Ian Millward said: “Kieran won’t be a Dragon in 2017.”
Foran has spent the majority of his career with Manly Sea Eagles, winning the NRL title in 2011.
He was also part of the New Zealand team to reach the Rugby League World Cup final in 2013, where the Kiwis were beaten by Australia.
