The Plateau State Scrabble Association has confirmed December 16th and 17th 2022 as dates for the grand finale of the its Scrabble Championship Series.
The event which was earlier scheduled to hold on the 9th and 10th of December was moved in response to the shift in the dates of the 21st National Sports Festival ending on the 10th of December which had resulted in a clash of dates.
Announcing the commencement of registration for the event, Chairman of the Championship Organizing Committee, Henry Nwosu, stated that unlike the previous three match days that were held on a single day and had ten games each, the grand finale will have fifteen games running for two days.
Going into the final with results after match day 3, Dan Kakwi leads the pack with 23.5 points, closely followed by Benjamin Batol on 23 points and Alhassan Shaibu on 22 points as they compete for a total prize money of over 200,000 naira where the winner takes home a cash prize of 100,000 naira plus a trophy.
Aside the top prizes, spot prizes available to compete for include, best female, and best newbie (male and female).
On their readiness for the final day, Nwosu confirmed that, with about a month to go, preparations are already at about eighty percent completion.
He thanked the Board of the Plateau State Scrabble Association and the President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation, Chief Toke Aka for their immense contribution towards the success of the event.
