The outgoing Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, Hon. Othman Bala Adam, has revealed that the Ministry under his watch, made remarkable achievements and has become the envy of all.
He stated this on Thursday, 2nd September, 2021, while handing over the affairs of the Ministry to the Permanent Secretary, Kassimu Suleiman, in line with the directive of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Othman Bala stated he was leaving the Ministry in sound state than he met it in 2019 when he assumed office, especially helping Governor Abdullahi Sule achieve the cardinal objectives of his Administration, in the areas of human resource development, infrastructural improvement and staff welfare while setting the pace for others to emulate.
“The journey was so eventful, so memorable, so remarkable and outstanding. And those were achieved because we worked as a team.
“We have created a niche for ourselves. We have made the Ministry the envy of all, where everyone now wants to come and preside over.
“This is because we knew we had a lot to offer to our youth and sports in Nasarawa State.
“We did this with passion, sincerity of purpose, and focus to get to a reasonable point where we would all be proud of, and I am happy we were able to do that.
“Today, the Ministry is recognized by the Government of Governor Abdullahi Sule who graciously gave me the mandate to preside over it.”
The outgoing Commissioner who was ecstatic when speaking, commended staff of the Ministry for their maximum support and appealed to them to extend the same hand of fellowship to the Permanent Secretary in order to move the Ministry to a higher height.
The Permanent Secretary, Kassimu Suleiman, in his response, commended the former Commissioner for the strategic leadership he provided the Ministry in the last two years.
According to him, the Commissioner introduced several innovations that had placed the youth and sports sector under the Ministry’s supervision, as forces to reckon with.
He added that the Commissioner went through the thirteen Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State and beyond, seeking for durable raw talents, ideas, and resources that would help the State’s youth and athletes compete favourably with their counterparts in other climes, efforts that have made the Ministry a household name in Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.
The Permanent Secretary assured that all the achievements of the former Commissioner would be jealously safeguarded.
The handing over was done amidst Management members and staff at the Conference Hall of the Ministry.
