Austin Opara has emerged Plateau United player of the month of March after putting up some splendid performances in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League.
The soft-spoken versatile defender who can equally play in all the four positions in the defence , was a unanimous choice of the technical crew in the month under review.
Opara who joined the two time champions from struggling Heartland of Owerri, is a regular feature in Plateau United this season due to his scintillating display.
The quite and unassuming Opara capped his excellent performance for the Peace Boys this season when he scored a superb equalizer against his former club, Enyimba International to give Plateau United a share of the point in an entertaining encounter which ended one-all in Aba last month.
The hardworking player who captained the Mountains of Fire and Miracles of Lagos for six years , is one of the mainstay in Plateau United defence so far this season as his combination with Ikefe Andrew, Buhari Ibrahim and Daniel Itodo is a delight to watch for his versatility.
Plateau United player of the month award was initiated by Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu in October last shortly after assuming leadership of the team as Technical Adviser in order to create healthy competition for places in the team.
