NSF: Government Fulfills Promise Of Cash Prizes For Team Oyo Medalists

Oyo State Government on Saturday at the camp of the state contingent in Asaba, Delta State fulfilled his promise made to athletes before the kick-off of the National Sports Festival tagged ‘Delta 2022’.

Recall the State Government through the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Asiwaju Seun Fakorede and Oyo State Sports Council led by the Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Adewusi ‘Arole’ promised instant cash reward of N20,000 to Gold medalist, N10,000 and N5,000 for Silver and Bronze medalists respectively to Team Oyo athletes at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta state.

Hon. Gbenga Adewusi, while addressing the athletes on behalf of the Youths and Sports Commissioner said the State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde is excited with the development in Team Oyo camp and ready to motivate athletes that has won medals and those who are to compete as event continues.

‘Arole Obasanjo’ as fondly called by political gladiators in the country stressed further that the State Government will not relent in motivating and showing love to athletes representing the state in any sporting competition and will reward them accordingly.

“As you all know that the State Governor through the commissioner for youths and sports promised instant cash rewards to athlete that wins gold, silver and bronze medal right here in Delta, we are here again tonight to fulfill the promise. His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde is a sports loving governor and always ready to motivate those that have won and yet to compete. This will also serve as a wake up call to others starting from tomorrow that thier achievements, purpose for representing the state and sweats won’t be in vain.”

“Team Oyo has just started, we expect more gold medals as from tomorrow across centers. We won’t be carried away with today’s medals; in fact, it is a wake up call for us.

In the same vein, Hon Gbenga Adewusi ‘Arole’ in his capacity also rewarded gold medalist with N5,000 and assured of more gold medals, adding that all outstanding allowances will be paid soonest.

Meanwhile, after Day IV, Team Oyo has grabbed 5 gold, 9 Silver, and 5 Bronze, a total of 19 medals. Games continue tomorrow across centers.
