The Nigeria National League (NNL) held its 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 5th Chukker Resort Limited, Maraban Jos, Kaduna State, on September 16, 2025.

The meeting, which was attended by key stakeholders, made several key decisions that will shape the league’s 2025/2026 season.

The 2025/2026 NNL League season will kick off on Saturday, November 8, 2025, with a star match, while other Week One league matches will be played on November 14, 15, and 16, 2025.
The league will adopt an abridged format, with four conferences (A, B, C, and D). The top team in each conference will be promoted to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

A Super 4 competition will be organized at the end of the season to determine the overall winner of the league. However, any team that fails to participate in the Super 4 competition will automatically relinquish their promotion status.

Only stadia that meet the required NNL stadium facilities criteria will be approved for the 2025/2026 league season. Clubs must submit a copy of their insurance cover for players and officials as part of the registration criteria.
Only Prostar/NNL branded match balls will be used in the 2025/2026 league season.

The AGM expressed appreciation to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for his leadership and guidance, and the NFF Board for their support. The meeting also passed a vote of explicit confidence in the NNL Board led by George Aluo for their achievements and commitment to improving the standard of the league.

According to Michael Chukwuemeka, Chairman of the Communiqué Drafting Committee, “The AGM appreciated the various sponsorship moves so far made by the Board of the Nigeria National League, while praying that they shall come to fruition.”
