Nasarawa United officially kick-started their pre-season programme with a hard-fought 1-0 win over KCD Academy, at the FIFA Goal Project field, Package B, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Thursday afternoon.

Newly unveiled Coach, Adams Usman, tested his blended squad against the might of his highly experienced and skilled Abuja-based opponents.

Both sides sized each other up upon the blast of the whistle, but with the Solid Miners enjoying more of the ball possession, though missing plethora of goalscoring chances.

The first-half ended with scoreline left at nil-nil.

The reverse half saw the introduction of fresh legs for United, and it didn’t take long before they got a goal in a spectacular fashion. Substitute Winger and new boy, Ayuba Aboy, mesmerized KCD’s goaltender, Eze Chukwuma, in the 60th minute, chipping the ball over him following a made-in-heaven pass from right back, Abubakar Abdullahi.

The host pushed harder for a leveller, but it was the Solid Miners who needed the win more in the rain-drenched setting, earning the Coach Adams Usman’s wards their first win in their Abuja Pre-Season tour.

The Solid Miners would engage in more friendly matches in the Federal Capital Territory in the coming days before retiring to Lafia for their first 2023/24 Nigeria National League home game against Jedo FC on Saturday, 28th October, 2023.
