He had repeatedly pledged that he was storming New York with a show that will be ‘“gbamistic!” The big live performance of A.J. Warrior, the look-alike son of the great Sir (Dr) Warrior Obinna, the unforgettable Igbo philosopher singer of the Oriental Brothers fame, at the grand celebration on March 4, 2023 in New York City of the 80th birthday of the Nigerian teacher, author, journalist, unstoppable intellectual and creative personality, the amazing Lolo Dorothy Akujuo, who retired in New York as a Professor of English, was not just “gbamistic”. It was sensational.

Ajuzieogu Obinna, better known as A.J. Warrior, whose talent replicates that of his father, Christogonus Ezebuiro Obinna, aka Dr (Sir) Warrior who passed on in 1999, delivered a superlative show that had the hundreds of guests from all over the USA, at the exceptional birthday event, rocking and rocking and rocking to the unadulterated highlife sound.

Chief Tony Okoroji, celebrated former president of PMAN and current chairman of COSON, Nigeria’s biggest copyright collective management organization, who superintend over the event, had promised that the Tiffany & Crystal Hall of Leonard’s Palazzo in New York, at some point, would be a luxurious banquet hall with thousands of glittering chandeliers. At another point, it would be transformed into a cinema hall for the premier of “My Birthright”. Seamlessly, it would become an active and no-holds-bared dancing hall with strobe lights for the full enjoyment of all guests.

The master of unforgettable shows, had also promised that the famous DJ Judah would be in action manning the wheels of steel and that it would all be done in style and would be a celebration of not just the great Lolo Dorothy Akujuo but a celebration of the many outstanding Nigerian women doing fantastic things across the world.

All the promises made by Chief Okoroji were kept and nobody who attended the very professionally executed 80th birthday celebration of the amazing Lolo Dorothy Akujuo, is ever likely to forget the experience.
