Igwe Nanka YSFON Cup Comes Alive In Nanka


All is set for the inaugural edition of the Igwe Nanka YSFON Cup, an U-17 tournament in Anambra State.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 12th June at Neros Stadium, Nanka.

According to the Engr Akonan Obiefuna, the new Chairman of YSFON in Anambra State, the objective of the U-17 tournament is to unearth talents.

Obiefuna says “You remember that the journey of success of some great players began from YSFON”.

It’s a new beginning for the State as regards youth sports development, as the new Chairman is committed to ensure that YSFON get back to the glory days of churning out talents for our national teams.

Engr Obiefuna believes it high time that Anambra State on the map of grassroot sports development.

This is why YSFON is in concert with the traditional ruler of Nanka, HRH Godwin Ezeilo to sponsor the Igwe Nanka YSFON Cup. The tournament is statewide and would involve U-17 teams from all LGs of the Anambra.

The Igwe Godwin Ezeilo(Obu Nanka) sponsored tournament would see the eventual winner cart home a prize money of N200,000.

Other prize money includes N150,000, N100,000 and N50,000, for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed teams respectively.

The finals of the tournament would hold on the 22nd August, 2021 at the Neros Stadium.

Nanka is in Orumba North LGA of Anambra State.
