Nigeria’s Underage Handball Teams Dominate In IHF Women’s Trophy

Nigeria’s Women Underage handball teams have started strong at the ongoing IHF Women’s Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The teams have secured commanding victories in their opening matches.

The U-18 team, led by Coach John Uzor, outclassed Ghana 35-24 in a fast-paced and physical encounter. The Nigerian side established a 4-goal cushion at halftime with an 18-14 lead and went on to win with an 11-goal margin, showcasing superior shot efficiency and defensive organization.

The U-20 team proved too strong for Benin Republic, sealing a 42-30 victory. Nigeria dominated from the first whistle, using aggressive defending and swift transitions to keep their opponents on the back foot.

IThe team’s pivot play and quick rotations around the 9-metre line proved difficult for Benin Republic to handle.

Both teams now sit in strong positions in their respective groups as they eye qualification to the continental phase of the IHF Women’s Trophy. The semi-finals are set to be played on Wednesday.
