Plans are in top gear to host the 2022 Edition of the EYP Marathon Challenge, Jakande Estate, Oke-Afa, in Ejigbo, Lagos State.
The marathon event conceptualised to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day, will take place on the 1st October, 2022, at the Low Cost Housing Estate by 7am.
According to Yusuf Adeyemi, Chairman of the Estate Youth Parliament, (EYP) this year’s marathon is the third edition having started in 2022.
Saying: “The Marathon started with the purpose of identifying talents in the athletics within the community. And find ways to develop and harness these raw talents, as a way of contributing to youth development”.
This year’s edition is expected to have 40 participants in both female and male categories. With the male running the fastest in a 11.03 kilometres, while the female must complete 8.08 kilometres.
Yusuf Adeyemi, says the marathon is open to the general public and winners would receive cash prizes. Opining that the first three place winners would go home with the same cash prizes.
The first placed winners go home with N15,000, second place N10,000 and third place N5,000 respectively.
The organisers also revealed that the Most Impressive Teenager and Juvenile gets N2,500 each.
The organisers however appeal to corporate organisations and bodies, should reach out to support by way of sponsorship to make the event great and successful.
