“I am particularly happy for Tobi Amusan. She is carrying the hopes of Nigerians at the World Championships as a star athlete. Her discipline on the track against her competitors was amazing being the current champion.”

The AFN President noted that Amusan’s silver medal win is a testament to her status as a world-class athlete and a great example of the indomitable spirit of Nigerians. Amusan, the current world record holder in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.12 seconds set in Oregon in 2022, has once again proved her status on the world stage.

Okowa assured that the AFN will continue to support Nigerian athletes, saying, “With this performance here in Tokyo, Tobi has once again shown that great talents abound in Nigeria. Congratulations to Team Nigeria for this valued medal.”
