With medals’ coast palatably in favour of Team Nasarawa at the 15th edition of the Panamai (West African) and Cottage Mills Open Taekwondo Championship holding in Lagos, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, has sent his congratulatory message to the contingent, promising to reward each of the medalists handsomely.

The Commissioner who has been monitoring the progress report of the team at the Championship said the performance of the taekwondoists is heartwarming and a direct reward for the commitment and huge investment of the Governor Abdullahi Sule-led administration on youth and sports in the State.

“I have been following up on our athletes who are participating at the Championship in Lagos, and the news today is nothing but breathtaking!

“We are so proud of their outing over there. It’s the joy of every parent to see their children excel, and we at the Ministry can’t feel otherwise.

“We thank God for the record they are setting at the Championship, but this is equally not unconnected with the foundation we have laid for our sportsmen and women.

“The Sule Government prioritises sports and youth development, and so has given every needed support for the attainment of success.

“This administration acknowledges hard work and rewards excellence. Lofty rewards await these taekwondoists and all those who continue to work hard to bring glory and pride to our beloved State.

“Our reward system is to encourage the athletes, their coaches, and create healthy competition and enhance performance at sporting championships.

“It’s our hope that our taekwondoists will win more medals before the event comes to an end.”

So far, Team Nasarawa Taekwondo athletes have won a total of six medals made up of three Gold, one Silver and two Bronze, respectively, with the hope to increase the number before the end of the five-day championship which climaxes on Monday, 15th August, 2022.

States from across Nigeria and other neighbouring West African Countries are featuring in the Championship with participants featuring in Cadets, Juniors and Seniors’ events.
