The Estate Youth Parliament (EYP) is gearing up to host the 6th edition of its annual marathon, a flagship event that has become a staple in the community since its inception in 2020.

The marathon, scheduled for 2025, promises exciting rewards for participants and aims to promote sports development and community engagement.

According to the Chairman of EYP, Adefemi Yusuf Adeyemi, the organization has consistently engaged youths and the elderly in sporting activities during the ember months of every year.

“We have passion for sports development in our immediate community and that’s why we have consistently engaged the youths and even the elderly in sporting activities during the ember time of every year in the last 7 years,” Adeyemi said.

The EYP has offered attractive rewards for successful participants in the past, with the male and female champions receiving N20,000 each. For the 2025 edition, the organization hopes to raise the bar of rewards, with potential prizes including N20,000, N15,000, or N10,000 for first, second, and third positions for both genders.

The EYP appreciates the support of fathers, mothers, and youths in the community and has hinted at a potential public health programme before the year ends. The organization remains committed to promoting sports development and community engagement, despite challenges in securing big sponsorships.

As Adeyemi noted, “We have always been pushing for sponsorship so as to be able to do more for successful participants but it has never come big as much as we desire. However we are putting the same energy into this year’s event and we are hopeful that something nice would come out of it.”
