Nasarawa Youth Ministry Pledges Support Towards Youth National Day Celebration

The Nasarawa State Government has assured the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, a level playing ground as the body sets modalities in place to commemorate the National Youth Day Celebration.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango, ably represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, stated this when he played host to the Committee Members set up by the leadership of the Youth Council to organise the 2023 National Youth Day Celebration in his office in Lafia on Tuesday.

According to him, “On behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, I want to appreciate the Youth Council for the symbiotic relationship with the Ministry and Government in ensuring that youth activities move to the next level in the State.

“May I use this medium to congratulate youth of the State and Nigeria on the occasion of the National Youth Day Celebration slated for the 1st of November. I hope the spirit of the day will continue to linger in us, both now and always.

“I wish to urge young people in the State to use themselves as instruments of positive change to galvanize socio-economic and cultural benefits to the State and Nigeria as a whole.

“I can’t forget to acknowledge the efforts and commitments of Governor Abdullahi Sule in ensuring the development and promotion of youth activities in the State, especially through the offices of the SSA on Youth and Students’ Affairs, Rt. Hon. Shuaibu Sani, and Chairman of the NYCN, Nasarawa State Chapter, Comr. Ja’afar Loko.

“Luckily enough, we have capable youth who can contribute their quota to the development of the State. As youth, continue to do your best to trigger development and peace in the State.

“Pertaining your plan to host a programme in commemoration of the forthcoming National Youth Day, may I suggest that it should be done in collaboration with the Ministry so that we can achieve better results in the process. This is because programmes like the forthcoming one aligns with the mandate of the Ministry.

“I wish to assure the Committee that the Ministry will continue to synergize with the Youth Council for the growth and development of our youth.”

Earlier, leader of the delegation and Deputy Chairman of the NYCN, Nasarawa State, Comr. Louis Azige, told the Permanent Secretary that the essence of the visit was to inform him about the Council’s plans to organise a one-day interactive session with Governor Abdullahi Sule involving various registered youth groups in the State in marking the Day, with the aim of chatting the way forward.

He added that arrangements are equally being made by the Council to stage zonal activities to commemorate the Day across the State, requesting the support of the Ministry to enable the Council have a successful celebration.

In attendance at the meeting were the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Youth and Students’ Affairs, Rt. Hon. Shuaibu Sani, and Director of Youth Development, Haruna Viba.

The National Youth Day, established on November 1, 2020, by former President Muhammadu Buhari, is a day dedicated to celebrating the Nigerian youth and their contributions to nation-building, while highlighting issues that affect them, with the aim of tackling the issues head-on for a better society.
