At the recently concluded Ikaram Progressive Union (IPU) Second Quarter meeting, held virtually on Zoom on Sunday, July 09, 2023, President Odomode Adeyemi Opemipo LaCrown announced the names of individuals who have been nominated for the 2023 Ikaram Image Award.
In a statement signed by the president, LaCrown, he thanked the committee that worked diligently on the names for their undying patriotic spirit. He also thanked the respective chairperson of various chapters who assisted in sending names to the committee.
After due diligence and wide consultations, the national president, Chief (Dr) Odomode Adeyemi Ololade Opemipo LaCrown Oloruntoba was glad to release to the general Ikaram populace, home and abroad, the ratified names of awardees for the Ikaram Image Award, which is in its second season.
This year will feature the following distinguished sons and daughters of the town who had and continue to fly the flag of the town across the globe.
The theme for this year’s award is “Respect, Honour and Gratitude.”
Chief Opemipo says the idea is:”To express deep admiration for the conventional standard of conduct, and appreciation for the works of our heroes past, continued efforts of our present nation builders that were elicited by their abilities, qualities, and/or achievements throughout the globe”.
Chief Adeyemi Opemipo LaCrown explained that the Ikaram Image Award would continue to embrace the works of those who tread this path before us and invested in building a community that we have today, in terms of giving back to the community or building capacity for the same.
The second area of interest that the national president spoke about is the personal achievement of Ikaram sons and daughters across the globe.
Finally, the committee submitted that this year’s event would be geared toward raising a N50 million naira educational endowment fund. “This will allow the community to support the underprivileged amongst us by providing bursary allowance to college/university-bound students, employ reputable and accredited teachers in major subjects for our high schoolers, and establish a leadership training institute, among others”.
