Akwanga Football Referees’ Society Elects New Leaders

A new leadership has been elected and inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the Nasarawa State Football Referees’ Association, Akwanga Society Chapter.

At the election conducted on Saturday, 18th February, 2023, at Pilot Primary School, Akwanga, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Usman Ibrahim Oguns, announced Abubakar Labaran as winner of the Chairmanship position after going unopposed with a total of twelve votes.

Other elected officials include Abdullahi Ibrahim as Vice Chairman, Abdullahi Suleiman Naira as Secretary, Kassimu Ahmad Umbugadu as Training Officer, Markus Buzua Yohanna as Treasurer while Bawa Stephen is the Publicity Secretary.

In his post-inauguration speech, the newly elected Chairman promised to bring positive transformation in the society.

“I am highly delighted and privileged to serve as Chairman of this Society.

“It will interest you to know that the Akwanga Football Referees’ Society comprise three Local Government Areas in the Zone, which are Akwanga, Nasarawa-Eggon and Wamba respectively.

“Football unites the society irrespective of the differences.

“By the grace of God, we are going to do our best for the benefit of upcoming referees and younger generation. We will also do all we can to establish confidence among stakeholders of the game by imbibing professional ethics and etiquette in carrying out our duty.

“We crave for your support to enable us attain our goals and aspirations.

“As the chairman, I promise to carry everyone along, irrespective of your status, whatever.”

The election was supervised by the Secretary of the Nasarawa State Football Referees’ Association, Alh. Isa Mohammed, and also had the presence of 2023 Senatorial Candidate for Nasarawa Northern Zone, Dr. Musa Wen Ibrahim; Chairman of All Stars FC of Akwanga, Eche Amos; Akwanga FA Chairman, Ishaq Jibrin, and Chairman, Akwanga Coaches’ Association, Jibrin Danjuma(Zidos).

The new leadership will serve a tenure of four years in office which is renewable according to the Association’s Constitution.
