Of course, today red rents the air. Gifts exchanged, kissing given and received either through air or physical. The zeal to celebrate this day has unquenchable rendition that holds us with greater awe and perplexity.
How great our world would have been today, if only we could show a little kindness to humanity.
How great will the world be if I could go out today without seeing people fighting, without seeing drivers cursing and insulting one another; without reading lies from our government, without seeing a beggar on the streets.
How great and indeed enduring in happiness, humanity would have been if we realise that love is not a one-day event. How pleasant I would be if I could go out today and not being confronted by a handsomely well-dressed young man in black suit coming to tell me that for the past five years he had no job and needs money to eat.
And then what about peaceful homes and families? How gladdening it will be to me that families, husbands and wives, couples and parents will today recall how the journey of their love, life and families started and be able to renew the vow and love that USED TO BE and not continue in the row that exists.
How great would our society have been, if today, like every other day, the joy and love today represents would be expressed in character and sincerity and not in canality vein pleasure.
How great, peaceful and radiant in smiles and happiness our homes, families and communities would be if we realise the true power of love in healing the world.
St Valentine died for love, certainly, one does not need to die for love to show love but it is worth doing to die for what you believe in. I wish we could all be martyrs of love.
We may not actually die or be killed like martyrs to prove our love. However, you are a martyr for love when you sacrifice, at your own pain, to make another happy. When you give up your right to make your spouse happy. When you stoop down to let somebody have what rightfully belongs to you.
Indeed we all martyrs of love but who wears the crown at the end is the real martyr of LOVE
Happy Valentine’s Day!
