The Estate Youth Parliament Marathon, an annual event hosted by Estate Youth Parliament, conceived by Adefemi Yusuf Adeyemi in late 2019 and first held in 2020 to coincide with Nigeria’s Independence Day, is set to hold its 6th edition in 2025.
According to the Chairman of EYP, the event that holds at Jakande Estate Oke-Afa in Ejigbo LCDA; has been consistent since its inception, with the team working hard to ensure its success despite challenges in securing big sponsorships.
“We have offered nothing less than #20,000 for the male and female champions in the past,” Yusuf Adeyemi opined. For this year’s edition, the Chairman hopes the team would raise the bar of rewards for successful participants.
Depending on the situation, rewards for the first, second, and third positions for both genders are expected to be N20,000, N15,000 or N10,000 for second, and N10,000 or N5,000 for third.
“We have passion for sports development in our immediate community and that’s why we have consistently engaged the youths and even the elderly in sporting activities during the ember time of every year in the last 7 years,” said Yusuf Adeyemi.
The Chairman of the Estate Youth Parliament (EYP) appreciates the support of fathers, mothers, and youths in the community. He also hints at a potential public health programme before the year ends, possibly before or after the community games in December.
“We have always been pushing for sponsorship so as to be able to do more for successful participants but it has never come big as much as we desire, however we are putting the same energy into this year’s event and we are hopeful that something nice would come out of it”, Adeyemi concluded.
