Alake Of Egbaland Predicts Bright Future For African Athletics

The Alake of Egbaland, HRM, Oba Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has expressed confidence that the CAA African U18/20 Athletics Championship currently underway in Abeokuta, Ogun State, will produce the next generation of African superstars in athletics.

The monarch expressed his optimism when the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, led a delegation of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) on a courtesy visit to his palace in Abeokuta. “I am very confident that many of the young talents participating in this championship will soon begin to shine all over the world,” he said.

The Alake also urged the CAA officials to take full advantage of their presence in the state by experiencing the rich culture and hospitality of Egbaland. He recommended visiting the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, the first in West Africa, and buying local products like adire, a popular textile export.

The President of CAA, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, expressed his great appreciation to the Alake of Egbaland and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating the platform and support that enabled Nigeria to host the championship after Algeria’s withdrawal.
