SWAN Leadership Visits Nasarawa State FA Chairman

The newly elected leadership of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Nasarawa State Chapter, on Friday, 19th July, 2024, paid a familiarization visit to the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Football Association, Salisu Usman Galadima ‘Basira’, marking a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between the two organizations.

Led by the SWAN Chairman, Smah George, the delegation comprised Vice Chairman, Umar Muhammed, Secretary, Leonard Abel, Assistant Secretary, Umudjon Michael, Financial Secretary, Nehemiah Gwamna and Welfare Officer, Eche Amos, alongside other members of the Association and were warmly received by the FA Chairman and his team at the FA Secretariat in Lafia.

The visit aimed to introduce the new SWAN leadership to the FA Chairman and his Board; discuss areas of collaboration and mutual interest; and to explore ways to enhance the working relationship between sports journalists and the football governing body in the State.

 

During the meeting, both parties exchanged ideas on various issues, including enhancing media access and facilities for sports journalists; improving communication channels and information sharing and collaborating on projects to promote football development and journalism.

The SWAN Chairman expressed the Association’s appreciation for the warm reception and the open discussion, stating, “We are committed to building a strong partnership with the FA, and this visit marks the beginning of a new chapter in our relationship.”

The FA Chairman reciprocated the sentiment, saying, “We value our relationship with sports journalists and look forward to working closely with SWAN to promote football and journalism in Nasarawa State.”
