…Distributes 109 Handmade Kits To Girls And Women

It was a fulfilment of a dream for Yere Ovia, when in a series of interventions over a 100 handmade menstrual kits were distributed to girls and women in Nigeria.

According to Yere, over 25% of girls miss school due to inadequate access or no proper feminine care products. Hence, the mission to see every girl stay in school, by ensuring that they have access to affordable and sustainable menstrual kits.

After her visit to Nigeria in 2021 and going by her experience at the time, Yere resolved to do somethingand alleviate the situation, as regards girls having access to menstrual kits.

As a result consultations were made and she eventually got support from Alachua Florida, USA chapter of Days For Girls.

That resulted in a collaboration with OIF Nigeria, with the distribution of 109 DfG donated menstrual kits, that took place across three centres. Where girls and women were educated about the kits and more importantly about hygiene and sex.

Yere Ovia says: “I’d like to thank my Aunt Tarela Aghanti founder of OFIN (Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation Network) for organizing and orchestrating to make these events possible while in Nigeria.

I truly do believe everything happens for a reason, and for a reason everything happens. I am excited to see what else is in store in the years to come for the women and girls of Nigeria. DFG and OIFN have made periods in Nigeria No Wahala!” she concluded.
