The Nigeria Police Force has announced significant achievements in its efforts to combat crime and criminality across the country.
As part of its strategic policing approach, the Force has dismantled several criminal syndicates, recovering 134 firearms, 1012 ammunition of various calibers, and rescuing 302 kidnapped victims.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police have arrested 179 armed robbery suspects, 100 kidnapping suspects, 152 murder/homicide suspects, 34 suspects connected with unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, 77 rape suspects, and 110 suspected cultists.
The police also recovered 73 various firearms, 310 ammunition of various calibers, and 56 stolen vehicles, while rescuing 22 victims of kidnapping across the country.
Notable arrests include a gang led by Muhammed Kabir, 36, who impersonated military personnel and defrauded victims of millions of naira, and another gang that stole motorcycles from farmers in Lagos and Ogun States.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, commended the efforts of the police personnel and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties, and creating an enabling environment for peaceful daily activities.
The police have assured that they will continue to pursue criminal elements and ensure justice is served in accordance with the country’s laws.
