PCRC Orile Division Celebrates PCRC 40th Anniversary in Grand style

PCRC Orile Division on Monday began the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Police Community Relations Committee across the country.

Commemoration activities of the founding day of the PCRC kicked-off at the Divisional level in all Police  commands in the States of the nation.

In marking the 40th anniversary Orile Division of the Police Community Relations Committee, held a community outreach programme providing healthcare services to members of the OrileDivision. This included free TB, HIV screenings, Chest x-ray, BP check and free drugs  for both children and adults.

Delivering his opening remark Mr Solomon Otuya, Chairman PCRC Orile noted that every effort and contribution to support the Police, is ultimately helping the Police fulfil its statutory obligation to the people and the Orile community.

“We are here to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the PCRC which was spearheaded by former IGP Etim Inyang. The message today is that Police Community Relations Committee is here to stay, our collective responsibility is to support the Police in to effectively police our community. You see something you say something for the peace and betterment of our community”.

Mr Otuya seized the moment to call on notable members of the Orile District of the PCRC to financial contribute to the anniversary project for Orile Police station.

Speaking at the ceremony the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Orile Police station, CSP Ayo Bello, expressed his appreciation to all who made out time to attend the auspicious event.

“I welcome all of you gathered here today to celebrate this day. I want to appreciate the PCRC in particular for their enormous landmark it has created in the live of the Police. They have been a backbone for the police without them the Police cannot work, a lot of the facilities used by the police is being provided by the PCRC.

So, we really appreciate your existence and I want to urge all of you present here that this occasion should not be the end, this should be an annual thing and we should engage more people to join the PCRC. Because when we are more in number we can do greater things”.

Part of the items on the programme was a health talk put together for members of the community by some of the sponsors of the health outreach.

Mrs Abiola Adekoya of HVN, SFH and Lagos State Ministry of Health, in her talk encouraged the people to make it a sense of duty to carry out medical checks for their children and themselves. Advising that in a lot of the instances government have made provision to ensure free screening and availability of medicines for free.

Another key highlight of the day was the beating of the peace gong where each representative of the three communities in Orile division prayed for peace and presentation of awards to some members of the community, for their exceptional support and promotion of PCRC work in Orile to; Chief Olabode Anifaloye, Apostle A. Ezenwa, Elder Olubunmi Diyaolu and ASP Philip Alade amongst others.

In closing the Chairman PCRC Orile, Mr Solomon Otuya thanked and acknowledged the important role the sponsors of the day played in the success of the event.
