The Osun Military Paramilitary Games 2025 entered its second day with a burst of energy and fierce competition as officers from various security and paramilitary agencies showcased strength, skill, and sportsmanship at Fountain University, Osogbo.

Field events dominated the day’s schedule, featuring captivating performances in shot put, discus, and javelin, alongside tense moments in the tug of war preliminaries.

The women’s shot put event set the tone for the day’s contests. Adejoke Olanrenwaju of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) delivered a commanding performance with a throw of 7.24 meters, earning her the gold medal.

Close behind was Omolade Akanji of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who claimed silver with a solid throw of 7.12 meters, while Omolola Obaniyi of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) secured the bronze, rounding off an exciting event that reflected consistency and technique.

The men’s shot put witnessed an impressive display of raw strength and precision from Abduraheem Taoheed of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), whose throw of 13.25 meters earned him the gold medal.

Adesina Samuel (NDLEA) took silver with a distance of 10.00 meters, while Aderemi Basit (NSCDC) fought hard to claim bronze, at 9.40 meters. The event underscored the FRSC athlete’s growing dominance in field events.

In the women’s javelin category, Amusan Victoria of the Nigeria Police Force hurled her way to victory with an impressive 16.11 meters, claiming gold and reaffirming NPF’s strong presence in throwing events.

Her closest challenger, Omolade Akanji (NSCDC), followed with 14.63 meters to earn silver, while Boluwatife Awogbindin of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) took bronze with a throw of 12.60 meters.

The men’s javelin throw was equally thrilling. Once again, FRSC’s powerhouse, Taoheed Abduraheem, displayed exceptional control and athleticism, claiming gold, with a remarkable throw of 41.00 meters. Omoniyi Omoyeni (NPF) earned silver with 35.70 meters, and Lawal Shamsudeen (NIS) clinched bronze at 29.38 meters.

The discus events brought another layer of excitement to the field. In the women’s category, Omolola Obaniyi (NDLEA) bounced back from her earlier bronze in shot put to win gold with a commanding throw of 16.30 meters.

Adejoke Olarenwaju (NPF) continued her medal streak, earning silver, with 16.16 meters, while Adeola Olarenwaju (NIS) secured the bronze at 14.51 meters.

In the men’s discus throw, Omoniyi Omoyeni (NPF) proved unbeatable, claiming gold, with a throw of 37.10 meters. Taoheed Abduraheem (FRSC) added a silver to his growing medal tally, while Adesina Samuel (NDLEA) took bronze with 26.70 meters.

In the men’s category, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) will battle the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for supremacy, while the female final will feature a thrilling face-off between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Immigration Service. As the Games progress, excitement continues to build. The volleyball events are scheduled to take place on Thursday at the Osogbo City Stadium, where teams will compete for dominance on the court.
