All plans to hold the maiden edition of the much talked about Ejigbo Inter-Wards football championship have been concluded.
According to organisers of the grassroot football competition, the championship is set to kickoff on the 11th December, 2021 at the Ejigbo sports centre.
The championship christened ‘Obe Inter-Wards Competition’ is sponsored by the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon Monsuru Oloyede Bello.
The football competition which is the brainchild of Ejigbo Grassroots Sports Initiative, is expected to involve teams drawn across six wards of the LCDA. And the teams are expected to play in both senior and junior categories when hostilities begin.
Mr Ahmed Shekoni, the chairman of Ejigbo Grassroots Sports Initiative, urge the teams to get ready for the championship. Stating that the competition is geared towards harnessing footballing talents, as well as a youth empowerment initiative.
The organisers appeal to well meaning members of the Ejigbo community as well as corporate entities to support the initiative.
Matches are expected to be played across two centres, Jakande Estate playing ground, Oke-Afa and Ejigbo Sports centre, Iyana Ejigbo.
