This morning, I watched the video of this athletics event ceremony and at the point Tobi Amusan started shedding tears, I cried my eyes out!
I cried because I totally understood the intensity of the moment and the magnitude and complexities of the emotions on display.
It’s always insanely hard when you are running uphill or swimming against the tide, in any given situation.
There are several years of pain, injuries, training, loses, disappointments, physical and mental growth and much more that have been invested, which have led to this moment.
I see that this personal moment of victory against incredible adversity of ONE athlete has inspired a lot of posts today and I have apparently caught the bug too.
This is a classic example of the power of the mind and its ability to shape the world around you, despite your immediate environment and your past and present experiences.
Nigeria is really not the problem most of the time, NIGERIANS are!
These type of inspirational stories reinforce my strong belief in the competencies, the courage, the tenacity and the vision of the Nigerian.
We are infinitely more powerful than what we have been reduced to by years of political misadventures and maladministration.
Let this victory inspire us to be better, more daring, more innovative and definitely more productive in whatever we lay our hands on.
And in 2023, let’s understand that the choices we make will greatly impact our lives and the heights we attain in life.
There’s no more time for experiments and uncertainties.
Our future is in our hands.
There may be no other chance to build a nation our kids will be proud of, where many more Tobi’s will have access to the infrastructure and funding they need to excel on the global stage.
Nigerians MUST make Nigeria great again!
God bless.
